I have so much catching up to do that as soon as I sit down to write, I just stare blankly into my computer screen before deciding I'm better off being distracted by Facebook and back-episodes of my favorite TV shows on Hulu. But that will only make me feel better for so long. The longer I wait to write, the more I'll have to catch up on. I desparately need to record my weekly "thrills" for the past few weeks before I forget completely what any of them were (this may or may not have already happened.)
I have been doing quite a bit of photography lately (hooray!) and that has taken up quite a bit of my time. I'll be shooting a wedding solo for the first time tomorrow. I'm a little nervous, but mostly I'm just thrilled. I know I can capture this very special day in a beautiful way. I will definitely post photos in a few days once the dust settles and I can sit down and get a good long look at the hundreds I am likely to take.
In the meantime, how adorable is this couple I did portraits of this past weeked?
We went to a ghost town here in Colorado called Nevadaville. It use to have 4000 residents at the turn of the 20th century, when the gold rush was still going strong here. Some of the buildings are in excellent shape and are gorgeous. Apparently there are still four or five people that live in the town, which is a bit creepy if you ask me. One of the men that lives there gives gold mining tours and gold panning trips. He was a very kind man and gave us some history lessons on the town. We will just skip over the part about the old lady that appeared out of nowhere to tell us we had to pay $25 to take a photo of a building that she apparently owned...
At the moment I am back in school on Mondays and Wednesdays. I recently was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, an honors society fraternity. I will be sending in my application and then will officially belong to a fraternity! How exciting is that? I don't even have to live in a smelly house that throws keg parties every weekend!
Last week I enrolled Sergej and I back in a gym. My membership lapsed near the beginning of the year and my body has suffered dearly for it. I'd love to get by just on my elliptical and free weights at home, but it's just not possible with my hectic schedule. I've gained an embarassing amount of weight this year and need to get it off and keep it off. With the gym I can bring Anna along and she can play in the kids' club while I work out. And trust me, I have been taking plenty of advantage of that service. I need to fit into an adorable dress before New Year's. And then there's this wedding I'm attending in Jamaica next June that I simply cannot look frumpy in a swimsuit for! There's that whole "being healthy" thing, too. Yeah, that. Of course I want to be healthy, but looking a little more similar to Heidi Klum is great motivation too.
That's all the catching up I have time for right now! I did a wedding shoot today and am totally beat from the 5am wake-up call followed by the 12-hour (and very fun!) day. I will post photos of that soon! Have a fabulous week!
