Mother/Daughter Bucket List

I have a great big busy day today that includes three photos shoots and a ton of editing after working all night! That might sound like insanity, but I'm actually quite excited for it! I'm glad to finally be getting more portrait work in and will post some examples from each of my shoots this week.

I've been thinking a lot about all of the things I want to experience in this lifetime and, in turn, expose Anna to. So, I've decided to start a list of the things I'd like to do with her at some point. Maybe they won't be happening soon, maybe some will happen sooner than I think, but either way I'd like to experience a lifetime of thrills with her. Here's my list so far of experiences I'd like to share, which will be going into a journal I've been writing for her since she was born (you can click on the links for more info!):
  • Participate in the Holi Festival in India
  • Visit Disneyland (I have many fond memories of Disney)
  • Take a volunteer trip to Africa, and a safari while we're there (obviously not until she's a teen)
  • Go ocean kayaking (many times and in many places I hope!)
  • Participate in Tomatina in Spain (another for when she's older and can handle a tomato to the face!)
  • Go Llama trekking!
  • Wake early, make tea, and watch a beachside sunrise together
  • Take at least one mother/daughter only international trip
  • Road trip across the US (and then fly back home after getting sick of the car)
  • Take a surfing and/or windsurfing lesson
  • See the Lantern Festival in Thailand
  • Scuba dive in the Florida Keys, a place that holds more very fond memories from my childhood
  • Ring in the new year in New York
  • Shop in Paris
  • Visit Ukraine. I don't know that Sergej has much interest in going, but I think it's important for her to see where her father was born.
  • Work together in a soup kitchen for Thanksgiving. She should know how fortunate she is.
  • Reach the tops of each fourteener in Colorado (mountains with summits above 14,000 feet.) She has already been to two! 51 to go!
  • Spend an entire weekend with no agenda, no errands to run, no chores to check off a list. Just hop in the car and let Anna point the way. Sadly, an agenda-free weekend is hard to come by these days.
I will be adding to my list as time goes on, and checking things off as I can. Most of these are going to have to wait until Anna is old enough or my bank account is big enough, but I'll be keeping the list tucked away in Anna's journal as a reminder to myself. And then one day, she'll make her own list!

What would you add to this list?
